‘Tis The Season | No.3 – Scented Candles

Christmas would not be Christmas without candles in the home, especially quality scented candles. The flicker of the flame, the gorgeous welcoming aroma for family and friends, along with the general warming, relaxed vibe they give. I want to share these candles with you as they just gorgeous for gifting, or even as a treat to yourself for some Hygge time.

Orla Kiely Mini Candle Gift Set – £28 for 3 x 70gm

I’m a bit of fan of products from Irish designer Orla Kiely, her prints are so different to anything else out there (apart from those that mimic her lovely prints). I have one of her bags, a purse and a couple of candles, and like to treat myself to piece every now and then.

This candle set, with the distinctive iconic 60’s Stem print on the glass jars, contains 3 travel candles of Fig Tree, Lavender and Geranium, apparently some of Orla’s favourites fragrances.

The 3 x 70 gm candles are made using natural wax with essential oils, and have pure cotton wicks. This set is lovely for gifting in the stylish retro print box, which can be reused for storage. A fab keepsake for jewellery, makeup, tech bits and bobs or whatever needs a home. Or they could be split for giving separately, but I think as a set, they make a lovely gift for someone with a new home, or who just loves designer scented candles.

The scents produced from the real botanical oils are gorgeous and the wax burns slowly and evenly, unlike synthetic fragrances that smell artificial and do not usually last. Each of the 70gm candles should provide around 10 hours burn time each (if cared for correctly).

A little hygge time with a the scent of Geranium

ESPA Winter Spice Candle£45 for 410gm

A tradition with this well known spa beauty brand, ESPA Christmas candles are especially gorgeous. This large hand-poured candle, comes in a chic glass jar complete with gift box, finished off with a hand-tied green grosgrain ribbon. This has a deliciously warm, spicy scent that hits you as you open the box, evoking memories of Christmas past.

Containing essential oils of Sweet Orange, Clove, Cinnamon and Ginger, this is Christmas in a candle, and should provide around a whopping 120 hours burn time (if cared for correctly).

Comes complete with a care leaflet, and plastic peel seal on the jar

I usually find you can tell a quality candle if the wax and packaging have an amazing essential oil scent, even before burning. I love ESPA candles, and their natural wax and essential oil blends are hand poured and produce quality burns with divine aroma. This simply takes me back to Christmas as a child, with the the smell of the pine tree, oranges and cinnamon sticks, giving a warm feeling from the woody, spicy aroma.

This beautiful candle will provide a whopping 120 hours of burn time (when cared for correctly). Mine is on hold from lighting until the beginning of December. For now, I simply open the box every now and again and enjoy the inhalation..it just screams Christmas for me, and I cannot wait until I light that wick!

I think this candle makes such a special gift for a family home.

For hours of glorious Christmas fragrance, you can find the Winter Spice candle at ESPA and Look Fantastic

Candle care : Wax needs to pool to the edge of the glass before blowing out to avoid tunnelling, and wicks need to be kept trimmed to help an even burn. Try not to place near draughts, place on a suitable mat and do not leave unattended. Always check advice on candle packaging as to their recommendations, as correct care will help prolong the life of your quality scented candles, along with the enjoyment of their aromas.
