Seasonal lip colours are never more prominent than in winter, and different textures with vibrant colours are everywhere right now. Although, it can become a bit of a minefield when you are looking for a basic, colour that is not high maintenance. If you are not after a shocking metallic matte, or disco gloss finish, these lip softening colours from Pixi will work for autumn/winter and beyond!
Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balms – £8 each
These balms are super handy, containing Shea Butter and Vitamin E to soften the lips, yet also providing decent colour. Either dab on, or lightly swipe over lips for a subtle wash, and for more colour intensity, swipe over liberally.
If you do not want a high maintenance lip, these simple lip balms provide care and colour. There are 8 shades available, and I have 3 to share with you.
From L – R below : Ripe Raspberry, Pixi Pink & Sweet Peach – (swatched below).
Ingredients : Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Polybutene, Ozokerite, Octyldodecanol, Beeswax, Trihydroxystearin, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-t-butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Phenoxyethanol, Vanillin. [+/- Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77492, CI 77491, CI 77499), Red 6 (CI 15850), Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140), Red 28 Lake (CI 45410), Red 30 Lake (CI 73360), Red 7 Lake (CI 15850)]. 4 g / 0.141 oz
With pops of colour that leave a slight stain, these are moisturising for the lips. Ideal for barely there makeup days, weekends or maybe a work lip.
My fave? Ripe Raspberry.. blotted down for a berry stain, with an almost naked eye.
Pixi Mattelustre Lipsticks – £14
More hybrid lipsticks, these soft, rich pigmented colours, provide either a cream sheen or matte finish. Do not think dry matte lipstick, they are moist but yet not a gloss. Containing Vitamins C & E, Hyaluronic Acid and Peptides, they help to plump lips during wear.
There are 11 shades available from nude through to bold, of which I have 3 shades. I also own Classic Red which is a fab red shade, not too blue, not too orange, but really wearable. Check it out in my post here (along with Pixidust eyeshadows too!)
L to R below, Plum Berry, Bitten Rose & Rose Naturelle (swatched below)
Ingredients : Isononyl Isononanoate, Octyldodecanol, Synthetic Wax, Glyceryl Hydrogenated Rosinate, Bis-Behenyl/Isostearyl/Phytosteryl/Dimer Dilinoleyl Dimer Dilinoleate, Silica, Isodecyl Neopentanoate, Shorea Robusta Resin, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Wax, Stearyl Dimethicone, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Caprylyl Glycol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Benzophenone-3, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Water/Aqua, Butylene Glycol, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tribehenin, Hexylene Glycol, Ceramide NG, PEG-10 Phytosterol, Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-12. [+/-Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Red 7 Lake (CI 15850), Red 28 Lake (CI 45410), Red 33 Lake (CI 17200), Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140)]. 3.6 g / 0.13 oz
The colours are strong, and when swiping on the lips they provide a creamy lustre. Blotted down with a tissue or fingers though, you are left with a matte finish. I just wish lipsticks tasted a bit better when you lick the old lips, don’t you?
My fave? Currently Rose Naturelle.. works for me with a smokey eye.
Easy, nourishing colour on the go with these Pixi lip balms, and the lipsticks providing either a matte or creamy finish. These could be just what you are looking for this season, for good colour minus the faff, but with lashings of care.
**Mattelustre Lipsticks are currently Half Price!!** (at time of posting)
