For me, makeup comes a close second to skincare, but what about products that combine the two? Well Perricone MD, with their years of scientific research on skin function, focus not only on skincare to help address ageing signs on the skin, but also makeup. I find Perricone formulations have good efficacy, and I am currently loving some of their makeup hybrids. So I want to share a couple of products that offer colour, help give a youthful look, whilst treating the skin at the same time.
Perricone cosmeceuticals are a high end range of skincare, providing science based products. Created by Dr Nicholas Perricone (MD, FACN), certified clinical and research dermatologist and author, whose findings on inflammation gave him insight into its affects on ageing of the skin. He also introduced the theory of brain-beauty connection, and was a pioneer in creating Neuropeptide skincare formulas. The products contain work-horse ingredients such as Polyphenols, Retinol, Vitamin C Esther and Alpha Lipoid Acid (powerful antioxidants), to address different skin issues.
I have used a few products from the range in the past and have always seen results, and here I am sharing some skincare and makeup hybrid products that I am enjoy using.
Perricone MD Face Finishing Moisturiser Tint SPF 30 – £59 for 59ml
This powerful yet lightweight moisturiser has a powerful formula, designed to help with with inflammation and signs of ageing. This has a mineral-based SPF 30, with Titanium Dioxide protecting against UVA and UVB rays.
It also has tiny pigment particles that disperse when worked into the skin, allowing a warm yet subtle sun-kissed tint, which cleverly adapts to suit your skin tone. Containing Vitamin C to brighten the skin, along with Alpha Lipoic Acid to help smooth fine lines, this provides the skin with moisture and hydration, as well as a subtle glow. Don’t think orange and sparkle, this is completely natural looking.

It has a light, lovely mousse-like texture, and in the above shot, you might just be able to see the pigment molecules within the formula.
To use ; apply a pea size amount over your usual skincare, you do not need much and can always add a if you want a little more cover. Then, using gentle circular movements over the face, blend into the skin allowing the pigment molecules to burst providing subtle colour. The finish gives a really healthy look to the skin, providing moisture and a tint that lasts all day.
Below – worked into one half of the back of my hand, showing the tint which provides moisture and glow.
Below – barefaced in daylight (apart from a little eye makeup), so you can see my broken capillaries and patches of uneven skin tone. Excuse the tired look, I am not sleeping well due to menopausal sweats *insert eye roll*.
Below – after applying just a pea sized amount of Face Finishing Moisturising Tint. It evens out the tone of my skin, smoothing out the surface whilst providing a subtle tint and glow.
Lasting through the day, this gives slight coverage, but not as much as a foundation, it simply provides a healthy warm tint whilst evening out skin tone. I find this is a great summer and non-makeup day product, plus it helps keep my skin calm and super soft. It also works well as a base under foundation, helping to even out my colour and provide hydration for my thirsty skin. Plus, I know I am protected from the sun if I go out for while.
So for days where you want a moisture boost, a light base with a little colour, the Face Finishing Moisturising Tint provides a good look when teamed with a little bronzer, mascara and a coloured lip balm. I will definitely purchase more of this for next summer, it provides a very subtle sun kissed look, with the added bonus of serious skincare.
Perricone No Lipstick Lipstick – £25 each 4.2 gm.
Packed with neuropeptides, the super moisturising and very popular No Lipstick Lipstick, mimics the colour of young, natural rosy lips. These solid bullet formulas change when applied to the lips, into super smooth hydrating serum textures, providing subtle juicy colour with amazing hydration. I was quite surprised after my first application, and just love the hydration it provides, plus you can build colour if needed.
Containing a mineral-based braod spectrum SPF 15, it also smoothes the lips, helping to plump out those fine vertical lines with clever scientific molecules, infused into the formula. In effect, this is an anti-ageing lip treatment that can be worn alone, or, under a favourite lipstick, helping to keep lips nourished and prevent dehydration.
It was even used on the actress who played Superwoman in the recent film, to give her natural rosy lips. Well if it’s good enough for Wonderwoman right?!
