Clinique Cleansing ~ A Refreshing Re-Visit

I must admit, it has been a while since I have used Clinique skincare, so I was happy to be able to sample a couple of their products. Here, I am sharing my thoughts on their new Fresh Pressed 7-day system, along with their popular cleansing balm.

Clinique Fresh Pressed 7-day System

Fresh pressed 7-day system, sounds like a power juice week long health kick right? Well it is kind of, only for your skin. When our skincare seems to be lacking in efficacy, adding boosters can help as a pep-up for the skin, by boosting a current regime in order to revitalise the skin.

Packed with pure Vitamin C, adding this combination of cleansing powder and serum, can help to boost skins luminosity. It can also help firm, along with minimise signs of ageing (fine lines, pigmentation), when used over time.

The contents are kept fresh by being sealed in the powder packets and airtight serum canister, as Vitamin C  loses its potency upon contact with air.

I am not new to using fresh Vitamin C skincare, as I used a similar system whilst working for luxury French skincare brand years ago. Vitamin C really can help brighten and revive the look and texture of the skin, so I was excited to try Clinique’s new offering.

Fresh Pressed Renewing Powder Cleanser

The cleansing powder is super fine, each pack containing 0.5 gm of powder, with 10% Vitamin C content,  suitable for a morning cleanse. Simply empty a sachet in to the palm, add a little water to work into a lather to cleanse face and neck. Leave for 1 minute, then rinse off.  The Vitamin C activates when mixed with water, brightening the skin after use, whilst giving a gentle exfoliation.

I found it really gentle on my fine skin, not causing my broken capillaries to flush. Whilst using the 7 day system, I enjoyed the subtle fresh scent and soft, glowing skin it produced. Even hubby said my skin looked extra glowy, a couple of days after I had finished the course.

Ingredients : Kaolin clay, 105% Vitamin C, Salicylic acid.

The cleansing powders are also available separately in a 28 day supply, a great idea if you want skin to look bright and fresh for a special event like a summer wedding. A quick course of these in winter, will also help boost skin when it can look dull and tired, especially if it has been exposed to sun and has developed pigmentation.

I want a month supply of these powders in my skincare stash, probably to use a course for 7 days each month. With delicate skin, I find some mechanical exfoliation products too harsh, but this is fine. Overall, I found these cleansing powders did a good job of gently resurfacing, whilst really brightening the appearance of my skin.

Fresh Pressed Daily Booster

The serum booster is contained in an airtight pump, with the Vitamin C powder held in a separate chamber to the emulsion, in the dispenser housing. To activate the mixture, you peel off the foil cover and depress the button, so the powder then dispenses into the emulsion. By adding 2 pumps of the serum to your daily moisturiser, it works as a booster, enhancing radiance and improving the surface texture of the skin. Also, if using along with the cleansing powder, it will boost results.

Ingredients : 10% Vitamin C powder, Molasses, Mulberry Root, Salicylic acid emulsion.

By using both the cleansing powders and the serum daily, skin is getting a decent enough amount of Vitamin C to improve the skins look and feel, but, in a safe and gentle manner.

If blemishes appear after using the regime, it is not necassarily a bad thing. It means the products are activating the skin and releasing impurities, as can happen when you go for a salon facial. As long as skin does not become inflamed or irritated, although if concerned, check with a dermatologist.

I would certainly recommend trying the Clinique Fresh Pressed  7- day system, just to see/feel the difference it can make to the skin. Available at Clinique counters or online RRP £25.

Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm

Having a slight addiction when it comes to balms, I was a bit like a Chesire cat when this arrived on my doorstep. This cleanser is suitable for all skin types, does what it ‘says on the tin’, and leaves no greasy film on the skin.

Ingredients : Water, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate, Polyethylene, PEG-5 Glyceryl Triisostearate, Tocopherol, Phenoxyethanol

Available at Clinique counters and online, RRP £23 for 125ml

This balm has superior slip, the viscosity is just right and it removes all stubborn makeup, grime and SPF. I use a large bean size amount, then emulsify between my palms (not that it needs much emulsifying), and massage well into my face and neck for a about a minute. Then I ‘take the day off ‘ with one of Clinique’s muslin cloths. (A plain white face cloth is also fine by the way). I then use a lotion cleanser as my second cleanse, but if you simply want to use this twice, then go for it.

It is an enjoyable product if you are a lover of cleansing, more so than you are of pretty smells. If I had to sum up this balm in three words, they would be.. easy, pleasurable, effective. Fine for all skin types, especially those who have an aversion to cleansers containing essential oils, this is a fab balm cleanser that does not leave skin irritated or greasy after using. Since these images were taken, mine has a large dent in it as I cannot stop using!

The Clinique cleansing cloths are available in a pack of two, at around £5, and worth the price for their mahoosive size! Some people might say muslin cloths are not necessary to cleanse with, but in actual fact, they have a gentle exfoliating action. Don’t get me wrong, I love me a white cotton flannel, but I do have a stash of muslin cloths too, and find they remove everything well.

Really impressed with both the TTDO cleansing balm and Fresh Pressed products, and although I have dipped in and out of Clinique over the years, using these has made me keen to try more products from their range again. Which reminds me…I must re-purchase their fab High Impact mascara!

I would love to know what your faves are from Clinique, and to hear your results if you have used the new Fresh Pressed powders/serum.

Still never tried any Clinqiue – reading your blog makes me realise I have so many brands that I’ve wanted to try but money and time have made it not always possible.

I do love the sound of both of these though, especially the vitamin c powders.
