Just right for going through autumn into winter, Aveda’s sumptuous range are designed for parts of our body that we rely on so much, and yet sometimes neglect. Ideal to pamper and care for hands and feet, the gorgeous skin Relief range will nurture, moisturise and protect.

Holistic brand Aveda began trading in 1978, and are one of my favourite beauty brands, also carrying the cruelty free bunny logo.  For my posts on some of their gorgeous hair and body products, simply type ‘Aveda’ in the search box and pull up selections worth checking out.

Hand Relief Moisturising Creme – £20 for 125 ml

I am a bit of an addict when it comes to hand creams and lip balms, and when I find ones that really work for me, I am a happy beauty junkie. So many promise yet do not deliver, so I tend to stick with just a 2-3 brands. Aveda’s Hand Relief contains Vitamins A & E, plant emollients, humectants, AHA’s and anti-oxidants, designed to nourish and bring relief to parched/chapped hands. When using regularly over time, it may also help improve signs of ageing on the hands.

Aveda claim : “Andiroba oil and other plant hydrators protect skin’s moisture barrier, helping seal in softness through three hand washes.”
Ingredients : Water\Aqua, Echinacea Purpurea (Coneflower) Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Dimethicone, Glyceryl Stearate , Polyglyceryl-6Dioleate , Coco-Caprylate/Caprate , Lactic Acid , PEG-100 Stearate, GlycyrrhizaGlabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate, CarapaGuaianensis (Andiroba) Seed Oil , Caprylyl Glycol , Xanthn Gum, Maltodextrin, Magnesium Sulfate, Sodium Hydroxide, Fragrance (Parfum), Linalool, Citral, Limonene, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol

Upon trying this I thought, ‘Mmm, lovely and creamy but wonder if it’s really going to be effective’. I went on to do something and when I felt my hands a few minutes later, I could not stop touching them! My skin felt so soft and supple, plus it had a radiance to it. With a slight hint of fruity/liquorice fragrance, this thick, rich cream works in well and is a treat for hands. However, I would not recommend picking up glass too soon after using as it is super emollient. As with the majority of Aveda products, you do not need much. Around a pearl size amount is sufficient for both hands, and a little more can be added if needed.

Although I like to use this in the day, I prefer it as an nighttime hand mask 2-3 times a week. When I get into bed, I apply a thin layer to each hand, work into the skin and around the cuticles, and put on a pair of cotton gloves for about 15 minutes. Hands are left super nourished after a battering of hard work and external aggressors. This really is a super moisturising cream for hands during the colder months.

Foot Relief Moisturizing Creme – £20 for 125 ml

Our poor feet, they carry us around everyday and are probably the most forgotten about, part of the body! The Foot Relief contains ingredients including active herbs, exfoliating AHA’s plus jojoba and castor oils (naturally derived). This is definitely relief for feet, as not only is it moisturising, but it also helps break down callouses and hard skin when used over time.

This sumptuous gel cream has an invigorating fragrance and melts into feet, absorbing quickly and easily. It is cooling, moisturising and refreshing on the tootsies. It also helps to revive tired legs too, with the inclusion of Lavender and Rosemary oils, plus anti fungal and antibacterial Aloe Vera, Peppermint and Tea Tree oil, which soothe, protect and revive.

Ingredients : Water\Aqua, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Lactic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract, Stearic Acid, PEG-100 Stearate, Dimethicone, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, SimmondsiaChinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender), Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Citrus AurantiumDulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Hedera Helix (Ivy) Extract, Ruscus Aculeatus (Butcherbroom) Root Extract, Silybum Marianum (Lady’s Thistle) Extract, CentellaAsiatica (Hydrocotyl) Extract, Menthol, Camphor, Thymol, Salicylic Acid, Fragrance (Parfum), Citral, Geraniol, Linalool, Citronellol, Eugenol, Limonene, Benzyl Benzoate, Sodium Stearate, Xanthan Gum, SorbitanStearate

I love using this as a treatment, usually after sloughing off dead skin on my feet, or after a nice soak in the bath. I massage into feet and work up the lower legs, put on some socks as the heat helps the ingredients to work their magic, either for 15 minutes, or overnight.

Feet and legs seem to tingle using this, feeling refreshed and less tired. The cream is nourishing on the skin, and I have noticed it is softening my recently neglected heels. A good product if you are on your feet all day, helping provide some much needed TLC for feet and legs. Also a fab product to nurture through the party season, as well as help feet look their best in those sparkly sandals!
